Career tiers
The career ladder comprises Open, Clubman, Pro, Elite and Masters. The top three championship finishers are promoted, while the bottom three are relegated. Progression depends on finishing position rather than requiring a particular car upgrade or a mandatory move to a more powerful class.
Rally and Rallycross careers run separately. Rally consists of timed stages, while Rallycross consists of short races against other drivers. An Open Rally calendar has six locations and four stages per location, while a Clubman Rally calendar has six locations and six stages per location; Rallycross Clubman featured four events with six races per event, while Rallycross Open featured three events with six races per event. These examples explain the formats without fixing every championship to the same calendar.
Regenerating a championship calendar
If you want to customize your championship calendar with events you enjoy or feel comfortable driving in, follow these steps:
Start a Rally championship, quit to the main menu before starting the first event and inspect the generated locations through Championship Details (□ on the PlayStation interface).
If the selection is unsuitable, choose Abandon Championship (△) and create a new championship.
A new championship generates a new set of locations. This can be repeated until the calendar better fits the driver’s preferences.
Abandoning a championship does not add a separate penalty; it does discard that championship’s progress.
