Power Pack Guide: Events, Stars and Rewards

By “Giok90” Giovanni Di Mare

GIOK90 Game Zone | Updated for Gran Turismo 7 version 1.72 (Spec IV) | PS5

The Power Pack is a paid expansion for Gran Turismo 7 on PlayStation 5. Instead of following the traditional Café Menu Book format, it introduces full race weekends, featuring practice sessions, qualifying and competitive races against Gran Turismo Sophy 3.0.

This guide explains how the mode works, how to select a car, which restrictions to check, how stars and rewards function, and how limited-time Power Pack Challenges differ from the permanent progression. It includes an example documented directly in-game by GIOK90.

How to Unlock and Access the Power Pack

The Power Pack launched on December 4, 2025 alongside the Spec III update (version 1.65). It is a paid DLC available exclusively on PS5, rather than a free feature included with the standard update.

To access the Power Pack pavilion on the World Map, you must progress through the Café campaign and complete Menu Book No. 9: Championship – Tokyo Highway Parade. You must also own the expansion. An internet connection and PlayStation account are required for the DLC.

The Power Pack includes 50 races across 20 themed categories, full race-weekend sessions, 24-hour endurance events, Gran Turismo Sophy 3.0 opponents and a bundle of 5,000,000 in-game credits.

Power Pack Events and Progression

The Power Pack has a dedicated event map, where races and reward nodes are linked through a progression system. Some events are available immediately, while others remain locked until you advance.

In the version 1.72 game interface, the map is organised around six visually distinct groups:

Event GroupIn-game theme
AmericanAmerican cars and motorsport
EuropeanEuropean cars and racing
JapaneseJapanese cars and racing
NürburgringNürburgring-focused events
HistoricHistoric cars and competitions
TunedModified and tuned cars

The Power Pack dashboard tracks 50 ultimate race results, 50 race victories and 37 reward claims. These are separate progress counters; completing a race does not automatically mean that every associated reward has been claimed.

Practice, Qualifying and the Final Race

Unlike many regular World Circuits events, Power Pack events offer a structured weekend:

  1. Practice: learn the track and the behaviour of the selected car before the timed competition.
  2. Qualifying: set your best lap during the allotted time. Your qualifying position determines where you start on the race grid.
  3. Final race: compete against the field, with the race distance and number of opponents specified on the event screen.

Qualifying duration, lap count, grid size and any tyre or fuel-consumption rules can vary between events. Always check the specific event information rather than assuming that every race uses the same settings.

Car Selection, Garage Cars and Regulations

Each event can display a selection of suggested vehicles. Depending on the event, these options may feature different difficulty indicators and monetary reward multipliers. For example, a more challenging suggested car may offer a higher cash payout.

You are not necessarily limited to the suggested vehicles. Starting with update 1.69, the Power Pack also allows players to select eligible cars from their own garage through Select from Garage.

However, an owned car must still comply with the particular event’s rules. Restrictions can include:

  • Country of origin: some events admit cars from an approved list of countries.
  • Specified models: some events accept only cars explicitly listed in the regulations.
  • Tyre categories: permitted compounds or tyre classes can be restricted.
  • Other conditions: consult the event’s regulation screen for any additional eligibility criteria.

Recommended PP is not the same as a maximum PP limit. A figure labelled “Recommended PP” indicates a suggested performance target; mandatory limits must be checked separately in the event regulations.

Can you change car settings?

Stars, Race Payouts and Permanent Rewards

Power Pack events award stars according to finishing position. The event map displays the available stars and your best result. In the observed ranking scale, first place awards 20 stars, second place 19, third place 18, fourth place 17 and fifth place 16.

Stars contribute to progression and unlockable rewards, including special cars prepared for the Power Pack. The DLC features six exclusive specially tuned cars. The map also includes additional rewards obtained at progression milestones.

Race credits are separate from stars. The amount depends on the event, final position and any applicable bonus associated with the chosen car. Some events also charge an entry fee, so the displayed payout may differ from the net credit gain.

Power Pack Challenges – Limited-Time Rewards

Power Pack Challenges were added in update 1.69. They are limited-time objectives that reward players for completing a specified number of Power Pack races within a defined period.

They are separate from the 50 permanent events and their long-term reward map. Their objectives, prizes and expiration dates can change with each rotation.

For example, a challenge shown in-game during October 2026 offered:

Races CompletedExample Reward
1100,000-credit ticket
2200,000-credit ticket
36-star roulette ticket (car)

These rewards are an example from a specific October 2026 rotation, not a fixed promise for every future challenge.

Check the challenge panel and its expiration time before participating. The permanent event map remains available independently of the weekly challenges.

GIOK90 Tips and Frequently Asked Questions

Do I have to buy and tune a car for every race?

No. Events provide suggested cars, and since update 1.69 you can also use compatible vehicles from your garage. Always check the event regulations. Suggested cars do not necessarily allow unrestricted tuning.

Do I need to qualify?

Qualifying is part of the race-weekend structure, and your qualifying performance determines the starting grid position. Taking time to qualify well can make the final race easier.

Does a higher-difficulty car earn more credits?

Some suggested vehicles show increased cash multipliers. In The GTI, the Mini-Cooper ‘S’ ’65 displayed 110%, while the Abarth 595 SS ’70 displayed 120%. These figures should not be applied automatically to other events.

Are Power Pack Challenges the same as Weekly Challenges?

No. Power Pack Challenges are a separate, time-limited reward system within the Power Pack DLC. They do not replace the standard World Circuits Weekly Challenges.

Does the Power Pack have 50 categories?

No. The DLC contains 50 races across 20 themed categories. Its map also presents broader geographical or thematic groupings.

GIOK90 Tip: Before paying an entry fee or starting qualifying, open the event information screen. Check the recommended PP, eligible countries or car models, permitted tyres, payouts and qualifying duration. If the suggested cars feel unsuitable, check whether your own garage contains a compatible alternative.
