Second Mechanic

Is the first thing to do to gain WP that you need to repair the car(s).

Pro Mechanic

Once the Pro Mechanic becomes available, I recommend hiring them as soon as possible. The Pro Mechanic provides about 70 WP, compared with the about 40 WP from a Basic Mechanic. Since the Pro replaces one of the Basic Mechanics rather than adding an extra slot, the upgrade effectively gives you + WP per race. In my test, the team uses one Pro Mechanic and one Basic Mechanic, contributing 130 WP from Mechanics alone, with the additional bonuses such as the Crew Chief’s +5% WP bonus are applied. The hiring cost is $2,500, and the additional WP per race makes this one of the strongest early Team upgrades because it directly improves how much of the car you can repair after every event. Although Work Points do not carry over between races, this bonus provides an immediate benefit every weekend

Elite Mechanic

Later in the first season of Career Mode, the Elite Mechanic becomes available. Once it appears, I recommend hiring it as soon as possible if you need further WP. The Elite Mechanic provides about 100 WP, compared with about 40 WP from a Basic Mechanic.

Replacing a Basic Mechanic with the Elite therefore gives you an additional WP per race

Although Work Points are refreshed every race and do not carry over, this is a very strong upgrade. The extra WP gives you much more freedom when repairing the car and reduces how often you need to spend Money on replacement parts. For this reason, the Elite Mechanic should be treated as a high-priority hire as soon as it becomes available and you need more WP.

Second Season

In the Craftsman season, you will have two Trucks to manage. After repairing the truck used in the next race, any remaining WP can still be used on the vehicle scheduled for the following event. This allows you to manage both trucks efficiently without spending too much Money on staff before it is really necessary. Once the repair capacity is under control, the next objective should be to bring both Trucks to about Level 3 across all Parts, while keeping the ARCA car fully upgraded.

At this point, the Truck program becomes much more stable and competitive, but the financial pressure remains very high. Even with ARCA helping to generate additional income, Truck development can still reduce your cash balance to nearly zero on a regular basis. Hire the PR Manager for $5,000. The PR Manager provides a 20% Reputation bonus, helping you progress more quickly toward future series unlocks and other Reputation-based milestones and better sponsors. This is especially valuable in a dual-series season because Reputation earned across both ARCA and Trucks contributes to the same overall Career progression

Create a Manager Department

After completing the main early Truck upgrades and hiring the PR Manager, the next major Facility investment should be Create a Manager Department. The Facility costs $35,000

Create HR Department: Prioritize This Before the Manager Department

The next major Facility upgrade I recommend (after the two additional mechanic slot if you need more WP) is Create HR Department, which costs $25,000. This should be prioritized before the Manager Department because it improves several parts of the team at the same time more income bonus. The HR Department gives you access to Better Applicants, allowing you to replace weaker staff members with significantly stronger ones.

Upgrade the Agent

One of the first hires should be the improved Agent

The new Agent provides a 25% Money bonus, replacing the previous Agent that provides only 10%. Hiring the new Agent costs $9,000. This means you gain an additional 15 percentage points of income bonus, which is particularly valuable in the Truck Series because Parts, Facilities, and staff become increasingly expensive as the season progresses

Because the bonus affects future earnings, hiring the better Agent relatively early allows it to generate value over many races

Upgrade the Mechanics

Create HR Department also allows you to improve your Mechanics. At this point, replace two of your Basic Mechanics, which provide 40 WP each, with two Pro Mechanics, each providing 60 WP. Hiring the two Pro Mechanics costs $17,750. This increases your repair capacity while allowing you to keep using the two additional Mechanic slots unlocked by the earlier Facility upgrade. With four competent Mechanics available, you gain much more flexibility when maintaining both Trucks and can begin using WP for more than basic repairs. This becomes especially important because of the Rebuild Part mechanic. Upgrade the Crew Chief when more WP is needed. You do not necessarily need to replace the Crew Chief immediately. However, once your repair requirements increase and WP start becoming a limiting factor, upgrade to the better Crew Chief. The improved Crew Chief provides a 10% WP bonus, replacing the previous 5% WP bonus. Hiring the new Crew Chief costs $8,500. This upgrade becomes increasingly valuable as your Mechanics improve, because a percentage bonus applied to a larger WP pool provides a greater practical benefit.

For team members that primarily increase Work Points, hire them when your current WP capacity is no longer enough to comfortably repair and rebuild the vehicles you are managing. If your existing Mechanics and Crew Chief already provide enough WP for normal repairs and rebuild a part (or you don’t need to rebuild a part in that point of the career), there is no need to spend money on an Elite replacement too early. Income-related staff should be treated differently if an Elite team member increases your Money income percentage, hire them as soon as they become available and you can afford the cost. Unlike additional WP, which only becomes valuable when you need more repair capacity, an income bonus generates extra Money every race and therefore becomes more valuable the earlier it is activated.

General Hiring Rule

  • WP staff: upgrade when you need more repair capacity.
  • Income staff: upgrade immediately whenever financially possible

This prevents unnecessary staff spending while still maximizing the bonuses that compound over the rest of the season.

WP staff and income/progression staff should not be treated the same way. Hire or upgrade Mechanics when the current WP pool becomes a real limitation. Income-related staff should usually be hired as early as the budget safely allows because their bonus compounds across future races. Reputation staff are especially valuable for better sponsors and when the next series requires a large REP jump.

O’Reilly R&D Staff

O’Reilly introduces engineers that provide a fixed amount of base RD, while the Performance Manager increases the accumulated total by a percentage. RD are necessary to upgrade the cars over part 5. A Basic Engineer provides 20 RD and costs $30,000. The VIP Performance Manager provides +50% RD. With one Basic Engineer, 20 base RD becomes 30 total RD.

Cup Staff Priorities

Hire the Cup PR Manager early: +20% Reputation for $15,600. Add the stronger Media Specialist later (save money for income facility): +10% Reputation for $125,000. The first additional Basic Mechanic provides 40 WP and costs approximately $63,550. Two Basic Engineers are available from the beginning; each provides 20 RD and costs $65,000. The early Cup Performance Manager provides +20% RD.
