Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater is a faithful remake, but it changes more than the graphics. Here is what’s different from the original MGS3 and everything you unlock after the credits.
What changes compared to the original MGS3
- Ga-ko: Delta adds 64 Ga-ko to find. Shooting them all unlocks the AT-Camo, which multiplies your camo index and is not a special item, so it is allowed for Foxhound. See all Ga-ko locations.
- “I like MGS” choice: the answers now unlock different bonus camos and face paints than in the Master Collection version. See what every answer unlocks.
- Every boss counts as a kill if you use lethal weapons, including Ocelot, The Fear and Volgin. The Patriot is no longer a safe option in a no-kill run.
- The Fear exploit is patched: the Fake Death Pill plus stun grenade trick no longer works, so the best strategy is poisoned or rotten food. See the boss guide.
- No save limit for Foxhound: the 25-save limit of the original is gone, so you can use as many manual saves as you want.
- More bonus camos and face paints, all unlocked by beating the game (except the Digital Deluxe Edition content).
- Quick camo menu: changing camo and face paint is much faster.
- Secret Theater: unlocked by beating the game, with hidden film reels dropped by specific enemies during the story.
- Single Action Army: in New Game+ you get it no matter which gun you choose in the final scene. In the original you had to pick the right one.
Endgame unlocks
| Unlock | What it does and how to get it |
|---|---|
| Patriot | The best lethal weapon in the game, with infinite ammo. |
| Single Action Army | Ocelot’s revolver. |
| AT-Camo | Multiplies the camo index of your uniform. Shoot all 64 Ga-ko. |
| EZ Gun (special item) | Non-lethal gun that gives infinite stamina. Catch and eat all 48 foods. On Very Easy you have it from the start. |
| Infinity Face Paint (special item) | Infinite ammo for every weapon. Capture the Tsuchinoko and keep it alive, or earn the Foxhound rank. |
| Stealth Camo (special item) | Makes you invisible to enemies. Shoot all 64 Kerotan, or beat the game with zero alerts. |
Special items are not allowed in a Foxhound run. To collect everything: Kerotan locations, all food.
Bonus camos and face paints
Beating the game on any difficulty unlocks all the bonus camos (Mummy, DPM, Auscam, Desert Tiger, Flecktarn, Banana, Grenade) and the Green and Brown face paints, the same ones you can get early with the “I like MGS” choice.
It also unlocks these extra camos without special abilities, useful to raise your camo index in specific areas: Anubis, Watersnake, Night Desert, Rock, Swamp, Dododo, Festival, Flower, Barracuda, Rainbow, Chameleon, KLMK, Urban Tiger, Soviet Woodland, Former West Germany, Former East Germany, Valentine, Tuxedo and Santa Claus, plus the decorative Flag face paints.
Everything else, from the full walkthrough to the original MGS3 strategies, is in the complete Metal Gear Solid Delta guide.
