F1 25 My Team Starting Car Development and Power Unit: Every Upgrade and Your Grid Position

At the start of F1 25 My Team you choose how developed your car is: No development, Some development or Extensive development. Together with the power unit, this decides how competitive you are from race one. Here is exactly what each option gives you and where your car ranks on the grid.

Where your car starts: development + power unit

Starting car development + power unitCar performance rank
No development + any power unit11th
Some development + Renault, Red Bull or Mercedes5th
Some development + Ferrari4th
Extensive development + Renault3rd
Extensive development + Red Bull, Mercedes or Ferrari1st

In short: Extensive development with a Red Bull, Mercedes or Ferrari engine gives you the fastest car in the field from day one. No development means starting last of eleven teams, whatever engine you pick.
